Project 4

Project 4

Beverage Manufacturer (part of leading SA FMCG company)

The first engagement that AES had with this client-centered on their interest in purchasing two new boilers for their site to supplement existing plant already in operation. AES met with the client and very quickly, the value of a managed O&M steam generation facility became clear to the client. AES submitted a proposal for the revamp of the client’s existing boiler house facility, including the upgrading of their existing boilers, and the installation of two new coal-fired boilers.

AES initially oversaw the renovation and extension of the existing boiler house structure to enable the installation of the two new boilers. Once these boilers were installed and commissioned on temporary coal and ash systems, one existing boiler was removed and two other existing boilers were refurbished, including the installation of upgraded AES control systems. AES’s scope of supply on the new boilers included bag filters to reduce the particulate emissions from the site. AES additionally obtained all permits for the operation of the new plant and registered the boilers with the relevant authorities.

The project included installation and commissioning of 2 off 10 ton per hour coal-fired boilers with bag filters. Repositioning and refurbishment of 1 off 10 ton per hour coal-fired boiler and 1 off 8 ton per hour coal-fired the boiler. Installation of a complete coal feed system for 4 off boilers, as well as a submerged ash conveyor system with an overhead ash hopper. Civil and structural works were undertaken by a client sub-contractor, however, AES managed its interactions with the overall project plan.

Following commissioning, AES has been operating the steam generation facility and ancillaries to provide the client’s steam requirements.
